This paper assesses farmers’ perception and adaptation to climate change to enhance policy towards tackling the challenges climate change poses to the farmers in Ghana. With regards to farmers’ perception and methods of adaptation, majority of the farmers perceived increase in temperature and decrease in rainfall pattern. Farmers’ level of adaptation was found to be relatively high with majority of the farmers using changing planting dates, different crop varieties, soil conservation and water harvesting as the major adaptation measures to climate change impacts. However, access to water, high cost of adaptation, lack of information, lack of knowledge on adaptation, insecure property rights, insufficient access to inputs and lack of credits were identified... |

The Paraíba do Sul river basin is located in Brazilian southeast region and is composed by 180 districts from São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro states. Based on an IBGE research results about districts environment, it is analyzed the environmental problems ant their reasons. In this context, the water pollution and erosion questions are analyzed in district extent. After that, the effectiveness of bulk water charge in Rio de Janeiro state, in the four hydrographic regions that compose the Paraíba do Sul river basin in the state, is analyzed. A comparison is made between environment problems that have relationship with water resources and actions to solve them in those four hydrographic regions. The results show that there is a delay between... |

Optimal intertemporal investment behaviour ofAustralian pastoralists is modelled using panel data for the period 1979–1993.Results indicate that quasi-fixity of inputs of labour, capital, sheep numbers and cattle numbers is characteristic of production in the pastoral region. It takes about two years for labour, four years for capital and a little over two years for both sheep numbers and cattle numbers to adjust towards long-run optimal levels. Results also indicate that, after accounting for adjustment costs, own-price product supply and input demand responses are inelastic in both the short and long run. |
